Arrival

When you arrive on the morning of your procedure, you’ll be warmly greeted by one of our staff members. You’ll be asked to fill out some basic forms while your doctor and surgical technicians prepare for the hair transplant surgery. A technician will check your blood pressure and ensure that you have followed the pre-operative instructions carefully. While rarely needed, you may be offered a mild sedative to help you relax. You will then be escorted into one of our four state-of-the-art procedure rooms, each designed specifically for hair transplantation to optimize efficiency and patient comfort.

Before the hair restoration surgery begins, your doctor will review your previously discussed goals and expectations. Together, you’ll determine the most effective use of your donor hair. This doctor-patient collaboration is crucial: your doctor will listen to your wishes and ideas, take them into account, and offer suggestions based on their extensive experience with thousands of successful hair restorations. The procedure will not proceed until you are completely satisfied with the approach and design agreed upon by you and your doctor.

Your operation commences with injections of local anesthesia into the donor area to ensure you feel no pain. It’s important to note that the procedures for FUT (Strip) removal differ from those for FUE (punch) removal.

Our videos feature close-ups of the scar area, filmed in a well-lit environment with a high-quality HD camera. We are proud to consistently deliver world-class hair transplant results, as shown by the scars featured on this page.

We strive to eliminate any doubt you may have about the authenticity of our results. We believe we have achieved this by using HD technology, filming in a well-lit setting, and providing close-ups and slow comb-throughs.

FUT Removal

Your doctor will start removing the donor strip once the region is frozen; this process often takes 45 minutes or more. You will be laying face down on a comfy surface, kind of like a massage table, during this portion of the operation.
After the strip is removed, your surgeon will use surgical-grade stainless steel staples used for cosmetic surgery to seal the donor site. Technicians will start removing follicular units from the donor location while your doctor closes the donor site.
Next, stereoscopic dissecting microscopes are used to process the excised strip. Expert professionals separate individual hair units (1-4 hair groupings) from donor strip segments and prepare them for implantation.

FUE Removal

The donor area is shaved down to the scalp to enable infrared sensors to accurately map your donor follicles. Using the collected data, the surgeon determines precisely which follicles will be extracted. A machine is utilized to position the punch tool and score the skin to separate the follicular units. Each unit is then individually extracted by hand. The number of punctures created depends on the number of grafts available and required for your procedure.

Subsequently, the graft units undergo inspection using stereoscopic dissecting microscopes. They are trimmed and cleaned as necessary in preparation for implantation.

A Break and Refreshments

After the initial phase of your hair transplant procedure is completed, you’ll have the opportunity to walk around and stretch your legs or use the restroom. A technician will bring refreshments for you while other staff members prepare the procedure room for the second phase.

During this phase, you’ll be seated in a comfortable, reclining procedure chair. As the hair transplant doctor creates recipient sites—small incisions that will receive the donor hair—you can watch TV or Netflix and enjoy the spectacular view of Vancouver and the North Vancouver mountains.

Recipient sites are created using the lateral-slit technique, pioneered by Drs. Hasson & Wong. This technique mimics the alignment and distribution of hair as it occurs in nature.

After the initial recipient site incisions are made, two technicians will begin to place the first wave of grafts. All technicians undergo rigorous training to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Lunch from a selection of local restaurants will be provided.

Following lunch, the hair transplant surgery will resume: technicians will place more grafts, and the doctor will create more recipient sites. You can request a break to use the restroom or stretch at any time during the day.

Once the procedure is finished, you will receive an aftercare post-operative package containing various medications such as antibiotics and mild painkillers to aid in your post-operative healing. You’ll be encouraged to contact Hasson & Wong for any follow-up questions.

You’ll be invited to return for an inspection of the work and receive instructions on how to wash your hair in the early days of your recovery.
